If you are looking for a place to escape and get back to nature with family and friends, we offer our three-bedroom mountain cabin. The unpaved lane from the main road deadends just past the cabin in the Moshannon State Forest providing access to nearly 200,000 acres of wooded mountain wilderness. Situated on eight private acres, deer, turkey, fox and an occasional bear have been known to make their way past the Lodge. With luck, the creatures may decide to mosey through the yard during your stay. Cedarwood Lodge is a charming post-and-beam cabin with a screened-in porch, small deck, picnic table, gas grill and campfire pit. Firewood is supplied for the indoor woodburner and for starting the pit fire. Guests are asked to gather firewood from the surrounding forest to keep the campfire blazing great for roasting hotdogs, marshmallows, and telling ghost stories. Our "Dark Skies" make star-gazing around the campfire a favorite activity. Cedarwood is designed to be a "getaway with comfort" - the cabin has air conditioning, telephones, TV for playing DVD/VCR videos (no TV reception or internet access) and a fully-equipped kitchen with microwave, toaster, coffee maker, refrigerator, dishwasher and gas stove/oven. Bed and bathroom linens are provided, as are dishes, silverware, utensils, pots, pans and pantry basics such as coffee, tea, sugar, flour, salt, pepper and a few spices. For a final touch, we place our own homemade bread and muffins or coffee cake at the cabin for the first morning's breakfast. Guests renting the property only need to bring food and clothing. For reservations of seven nights and longer, housekeeping is provided weekly. The cabin has beds for six in its three bedrooms: the loft bedroom has a queen bed, two bedrooms are on the first floor - one has a double bed, the other has bunk beds. There is space in the loft for setting up a queen-air bed (which is stored in the loft closet) or sleeping bags. The dining table seats 10 easily. There is one full bath with tub and shower. NEW - August, 2024 - StarLink has been installed. WIFI and high-speed internet access is now available at Cedarwood Lodge. The Cedarwood Lodge is a popular place to hold small family reunions or to use as a base camp to explore the natural surroundings for which the Pennsylvania Wilds is famous. Nearby Parker Dam and S.B. Elliott State Parks offer boating and swimming in Parker Lake in the summer, and snowmobiling and cross country skiing in the winter. The Elk Visitor\'s Center in Benezette is a scenic 30 minute drive. With the increasing popularity of elk viewing, this seems to have become a mandatory activity for at least one day of guest\'s visits. Hiking is also popular in the state forest and at the parks, as is fishing for trout, largemouth bass, sunfish and brown bullhead. For recommended restaurants, things to do and see in Clearfield and surrounds, see our Attractions & Activities pages. Built in 1989, the cabin does not meet the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessibility. However, there is a ramp from the gravel driveway to the entrance door (beginning ramp height is a couple of inches above the ground and one standard step from the end of the ramp into the cabin). Two bedrooms and the bathroom are located on the first floor of the cabin for guests who are unable to navigate the spiral staircase.
